We’re excited to introduce Weather Overlay Maps to HiiKER – powerful tools to help you plan and navigate your hikes with even more confidence.
You’ll now find a new “Overlays” tab in the map options menu. This brings several new ways to view your hiking map, including Data overlays, My Trails, and now – Weather overlays.
To access Weather Overlays, tap on the “maps” button on any of the HiiKER maps screen, they switch to the “Overlays” tab. You will now see a list of overlay options that you can tap to toggle on or off
🌦️ Weather Maps – Plan for Every Condition
Under the Weather section in the Overlays tab, you can toggle on detailed weather maps, including:
- Temperature
- Rainfall
- Snowfall
- Wind Speed
- Cloud Cover
These overlays work on both the Basic and PRO+ maps, offering real-time or forecasted weather conditions layered directly over your trail view.
⚙️ Custom Weather Settings
Each weather overlay comes with its own settings panel. Tap the cog icon on any overlay to open its options:
- Time selection: Choose between ▸ Current, ▸ 12 hours, ▸ 24 hours, or ▸ 48 hours forecast views.
- Unit preferences: Set the map legend and overlay to use the units you prefer:
- Temperature: °C or °F
- Rainfall / Snowfall: mm/hr or in/hr
- Wind Speed: km/h or mph
These settings help you fine-tune the map to match your needs and better visualize the conditions on your planned route.
