๐ฑ Looking to do this in the HiiKER app? See Plan a hike in the app.
The web Hike Planner really shines on multi-day adventures: split your route into day stages, add transport legs, alternative routes and spurs, and build a full itinerary on one map.
Working with days and routes
- Plot your first day’s route as normal.
- Click Add Route in the panel on the left to start the next day โ each route becomes its own day in your plan.
- Routes and days are fully draggable, so you can reorder your itinerary at any time.
- Use a route’s More menu to rename it, rename the day, merge it with the previous or next route, or delete it.
Alts, spurs and transport legs
From a route’s More menu, choose Set route type:
- Alt โ an alternative line (say, a bad-weather option) shown in its own colour.
- Spur โ an out-and-back detour, like a summit side-trip.
- Transport โ bus or car legs to and from trailheads. Shown on the map but not counted in your hiking distance. Tip: switch routing to Car when plotting these.
Splitting a route
Click anywhere along a route to add an intermediate control point, then choose Split Route to cut it in two โ perfect for turning one long line into day stages.
๐ก Top tip: Add hike highlights (viewpoints, water sources, camp spots) from the map’s More menu โ anyone viewing your finished hike will see them.
