Explore the World with Global Points of Interest (POIs): Now, on any HiiKER map, you can unlock a world of useful points tailored just for hikers and outdoor adventures. We’ve pinpointed essential locations in key hiking areas globally, focusing on three key needs:
- Need a Break? Find Rest: Discover campsites, shelters, cozy hostels, and even hotels/B&Bs for that well-deserved comfort after a long trek.
- Time to Refuel? Find Refill: Easily locate shops, grocery stores, pharmacies, and healthcare to keep your energy levels up! Plus, find known water refill spots in more remote areas (always purify and check for drought conditions!).
- Ready for Adventure? Find Recreation: Enhance your hikes with historical landmarks, peaks waiting to be conquered, inviting coffee shops, convenient transport links, and breathtaking viewpoints perfect for sharing those epic moments!
How to access POIs
Option 1
On any map on HiiKER you can activate POIs from the “Maps” button. Tap the “Maps” button and then tap on the “POIs” tab for a full list of available categories.
Activate the category that you want to see added to the map. You can also search for categories, and clear all POIs to quickly tidy up your map.
For more information on each POI, tap the icon on the map to reveal an information sheet. From here you can see contact information, location data and well and images and reviews where available.
You can also do quick actions like:
- Save the POI to your own custom waypoints
- Plot a route form your current location to the POI
- Get driving direction via Google Maps or Apple Maps
- See the location in Google Street View (Where available).
